Nurse, Diabetic & Lady of Alpha Kappa Alpha Running for Miss Black USA
Meet Channing Scott, Miss Black North Carolina 2016, from Hillsborough, NC. Channing is a recent 2016 Graduate of Hampton University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing, where she now serves as a Cardio Thoracic ICU nurse at Duke Medical Center. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Channing is really grateful to have the opportunity to compete for such title. "I am humbled and privileged to announce that I will be competing for Miss Black USA 2016! It is my highest honor to represent the great state of North Carolina, and I will represent with my finest work", Channing says.
Channing was diagnosed with type-one diabetes at the age of 18. Because of her diagnosis, her platform for the Miss Black USA 2016 campaign is "Don't Sugarcoat It", promoting diabetes awareness in communities.
"Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated, and will be the difference in my success as Miss Black North Carolina! Thank you for your everlasting support, prayers, & words of encouragement. I reassure you, I will make each and everyone of you proud!"
