Vice Presidential Debate: Kamala Harris, Mike Pence, and Flyshawn
On Wednesday, October 7th, more than 50 million Americans watched the United States Senator Kamala Harris and Vice President Mike Pence go head to head on topics that affect us as a country. Topics were discussed such as Black Lives Matter, COVID-19, foreign policy, and the economy. Some believe questions were left unanswered especially on Pence’s side. When asked what he would do what if Mr. Trump refused to accept the election results should he lose to Joseph R. Biden Jr., he decided to say what he would do, nor did he offer any commitment to accepting a negative result. “First and foremost, I think we’re going to win this election,” Mr. Pence said. “When you talk about accepting the outcome of the election, I must tell you, Senator, your party has spent the last three and a half years trying to overturn the results of the last election. It’s amazing.” Mr. Pence never got around to saying what he would do if Mr. Trump declined to accept a losing result.
Kamala Harris, however; set the tone and the mood when she informed Mike Pence that she was speaking when he tried to interrupt her during her time. Harris had a certain type of poise, respect, and etiquette about herself which is what won her this debate. She made sure she maintained the image a vice presidential candidate should uphold and made sure she didn’t fall to the common status quo of an angry black woman during the debate. Harris was straight to the point with her answers, firm in her beliefs, and confidence poured through her facial expressions throughout the night.
To spice things up even more, during the debate a fly seemed to be attracted to Mike Pence’s hair. The fly goes by Flyshawn and according to Ms. Tina Lawson, “Flies are attracted to all types of ****, including bull****.” Flyshawn quickly gained an audience on social media once someone made a profile for it. America laughed as tweets, photos, and videos poured over their timelines. Even though some believe that this debate wasn’t as “ridiculous” as the Presidential Debate that took place Monday, September 28th. There were still times throughout the debate that could have been prevented. Now that time has revealed that President Trump has tested positive for COVID-19, many are wondering what will be at stake for the next scheduled presidential debate.
