#ThisDayInHistory "A Different World" Airs Its First Episode
On September 24th, 1987, A Different World aired its first episode. This spinoff from The Cosby Show followed Denise Huxtable to Hillman College, a historically black college in Virginia, that addressed issues that The Cosby Show did not such as race, equal rights, and even the HIVS/AIDS epidemic.
