NBA MVP Award Now Named After Michael Jordan
Today, the NBA announced that the regular season KIA NBA Most Valuable Player Award would be named after Omega Psi Phi’s own, Michael Jordan.
Michael Jordan played 15 seasons in the NBA while racking up a ton of awards. He is a 6x NBA Finals MVP, 5x regular season MVP, 10x NBA scoring title, 10x All-NBA First Team, 9x All-Defensive First Team, 14x NBA All-Star Selection, 3x NBA All-Star MVP and the Rookie of the Year Award.
The details on the trophy is amazing. There is a 23-point faceted crystal ball to represent his jersey number “23”, the height and weight are both 23.6 in inches and pounds to represent his number “23” once again and number of championships, the base features a 15-degree angle nodding to his 15-season career as well as the base having 5 sides to represent his 5 league MVPs. The front of the base has a six-sided nameplate to represent his 6 championships.
It’s safe to say that this honor is well deserved.
